The finals of the football competition organized by Vision Africa Radio in Collaboration with the Nigeria Correctional Service Commission was held on Monday 12th September, 2022 at the football pitch of the Umuahia Correctional Service between the in-mates. The football match ended 5 – 1 in favour of F-1 team.
The Deputy Controller Umuahia Correctional Service, DCP Anayahara Samuel while kick starting the football tournament said it was instituted to bring comfortability, hope and a sense of belonging to the in-mates, expressing gratitude to the vision Africa Radio team for always identifying with them in all there programs and prayed God to keep providing them with more resources. While thanking the Controller General, Haliru Nababa, controller of the command, Kalu Ogbo and Zonal Co ordinator Chris Okafor for their dogedness in piloting the affairs of the commission.
Presenting the trophy to the winning team, the station manager, vision Africa Radio, Mr Charles Iheanachor expressed his heart felt appreciation to the officers and management of the service for organizing the competition and for always making sure that the in-mates are well taken care of, describing sports as a unifying factor. He further thanked the two teams for conducting themselves during the competition and promised to buy a football boot for one of the players who scored two goals.
DCP Samuel who was represented by CSC Chimezie Ezeala during the presentation expressed hope and optimism that the competition will go a long way to encouraging and motivating the in-mates and appreciated Vision Africa Radio for their support all year round.
While presenting a cash gift to the winning team the Head, Outreach department Vision Africa Radio, Mr Uchechukwu Uwalaka intimated them on the forthcoming Super Cup coming up 3rd October between the winning team (F-1)and the Vision Africa Waves FC.
High point of the event was presentation of gift to the best goal keeper, best defender, best player, and highest goal scorer.
The station manager Mr Iheanachor was accompanied by the head Presentation Mr Marcathy Uzoma, head of Outreach, Mr Uchechukwu Uwalaka and some staff of Vision Africa Radio.
