The teachers reminded that the 14 days-ultimatum that was given to the state government which elapsed on 19th May, 2022 and extra 7-days ultimatum was given to the government which will elapse on Friday 27th May 2022.
In a notice signed by the state chairman of NUT, Comrade Kizito A Kalu and state secretary, Comrade Mrs Nnenna Okoronkwo, the teachers said they have vowed to downtool if the government is still not perturbed on our legitimate demand after the expiration of the notice.
This announcement is to put on notice to parents/guardians and general public to hold their children on check due to security challenges in the country in case this ill-treatment being meted to teachers is not addressed by 27th May 2022.
The Union wants to place on record that our demands are neither ill nor politically motivated but in a bid to save the soul of education in the state for “the working Condition of the Teachers is the Learning Condition of the Child;” so that Primary and Secondary Schools owned by Abia State Government would be better positioned to train out qualified graduate if teachers condition of service is placed on government’s priority list.
