Some Abians are counting their losses following Wednesday 23rd March night rain accompanied with scary wind which affected many structures.
While many trees, electric poles and buildings were pulled down, a complete room housing two classroom block were thrown away at community primary school Okwu Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA of Abia State.
However, the incident affected one partition of the classroom block which fell off completely, placing the pupils and teachers on shock.
To this end, the headmistress of Okwu community primary school, Mrs Nwoko Cathrine Nkechi and Okwu village chairman, Mr Bartholomew Nwaeze appealed to Abia State government through the relevant agencies to come to their rescue to reconstruct the class room block.
According to the headmistress, the wind destroyed many things needed for teaching and learning. She promised that the pupils affected by the wind will be accommodated in other classes pending when the damaged classroom block will get attention.
The headmistress also appealed to well meaning individuals to collaborate with government to rehabilitate other classroom blocks that are dilapidated and could go down the same way the other building did.
On the other hand, Mr Bartholomew told our correspondent that the village deployed the services of some carpenters that dismantled the rubbles that blocked the  main road.
One of those whose shops were affected, Sir Ndubuisi Nwosu thanked God that the scary wind which pulled the classroom block did not harm anyone.
