The member representing Aba South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Honourable Obinna Ichita was attacked on Wednesday 25th August 2021 yet to be identified hoodlums at Aba.
The incident happened on Wednesday at a venue where he was holding a town hall meeting. Recall that Obinna Ichita of APGA, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 raised alarm over threat on his life by unknown persons which he wrote to various security agencies to alert them.
The threat he said surrounds his questioning the use of 56 Billion Dollars from World Bank meant for the construction of roads in Aba south and the whereabout of the Billions of Naira received as part of Paris Club Refund for Abia state.
Meanwhile, when hon Ichita first made public about the threat on his life, the Abia state government in a swift response through the office of the commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, stated that the state government’s attention have been drawn to the press release of Hon Obinna Ichita.
The statement however tasked the relevant security agencies in the state to thoroughly investigate the purported petition by the Lawmaker.
Hon Obinna Ichita in his statement and in live video never mentioned any person in Abia government to be involved in the attack, rather said he will report to the relevant security agencies.
