Following reports of new and unapproved huts and makeshift structures that are rapidly springing up around Waterside Central Market and Livestock Market, Aba, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has directed the immediate stoppage of such constructions.
A statement endorsed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Eze Chikamnayo, the Governor has also directed the relevant Market Committees to work with Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency (APUMA).
The statement also directed that Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) should ensure the immediate demolition of such new structures as well as prevent erection of new ones.
