Abia state chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Reverend Augustine Ehimere says Abians cannot beat their chest to say that the state has achieved meaningful development, economically and otherwise for the past twenty-two years.
Ehimere who stated this while interacting with newsmen in Umuahia, congratulated the governor elect of Anambra state, Charles Soludo, pointed out that it is disheartening and worrisome that the masses of Abia State who are mostly rural farmers cannot boost of good roads.
He flanked by the party’s secretary, Sunday Onukwubiri among other officials maintained that civil servants and pensioners have not been treated fairly.
According to Ehimere, the state government has not answer the question posed by the member representing Aba South constituency, Obinna Ichita on the 27 billion naira meant for the construction of Port Harcourt road, Obohia, Ohanku road and Ngwa road all in Aba, which till date, alleging that nothing has happened in these roads. He therefore called on relevant authorities to investigate the fund meant for infrastructural development in Abia state.
Reverend Ehimere challenged Abians to learn from Anambra who rejects unproductive candidacy as governor, revealing that an organization from United States is preparing to honour men and women who rejected bribe during the last concluded 2021 Anambra governorship election.
While saying that PDP and APC are the same with slit different nomenclature, lamenting that Aba residents are suffering because of poor roads network including other infrastructure.
He pointed out that it is unfortunate that Abia south senatorial district has people like Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Adolphus Wabara, Hon Uzoma Abonta etc but the zone is lacking good roads.
His words, ” it is a fact and common knowledge that every sector of Abia State economy is in comatos, ranging from health, education, infrastructure etc. All our public primary and secondary schools are not active and functional because of poor remuneration of teachers, non-payment of salaries and dilapidated infrastructures, yet the government of the day have continued bto play politics with the lives and futures of Abians, Abia Poly and College of Education Arochukwu and staff of Abia State Teaching Hospita, Aba whose salaries have been withheld for years now and these are human beings who have families to Carter for, yet the government preferred to channel public funds meant to pay her workers to frivolities and personal enrichment, at the detriment of her citizens”.
Ehimere also lamented that most projects in Abia state have been there for years without completion, while some claimed to be completed like roads in Aba did not last because of poor job.
