President Igbo World Union Warns Youths To Stop Carrying Arms During Festivals

The President General, Igbo World Union, IWU His Imperial Majesty, Mishak Nnanta is advising Abia youths and entire Igbo land to avoid brandishing weapons during this year’s new yam festival.
Ambassador Nnanta who gave the advice while interacting with newsmen in Umuahia, called for proper orientation of the youths by leaders in various communities, which he affirmed will curtail some would be circumstances which trigger fights between rivals.
To this end, a traditional platform in Igbo land, the Abia state Okonko society Ikwuano Umuahia clan has bestowed on him their patron to assist sensitize the youths on the right part to follow.
He pointed out that communities can secure their lands without displaying arms and pledged to use his position to ensure peace both for tenants especially Olokoro clan where he comes from.
According to him, communities in Olokoro were directed to establish vigilante groups with central body that will be supervise them, adding to use his good office as the national patron of vigilante group of Nigeria, VGN and police community relations committee, PCRC to marry together the vigilante group with the organisations he is identifying with.
He emphasized that new yam festival is a time to jubilate the successful farming season, therefore, the youths should be careful and drop the idea of carrying arms because the days are evil.
