The electoral committee chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA for Abia state, Mr Echezona Etiaba has declared the chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Greg Ibe winner of APGA governorship primary election.
Announcing the result held at Kolping Society Umuahia, Etiaba said Professor Ibe polled 283 votes to defeat other aspirants.
According to him, Barrister Etigwe Uwa got 148 votes, retired general Ijioma Ijioma got thirty six votes, while Chikwe Udensi got twelve votes.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Gregory Ibe thanked the party faithfuls for their support by believing in him to represent the party in the contest on who becomes Abia next governor.
According to him, PDP has butchered the trust of Abians, as such, deserves to give way come 2023. While promising to declare state of emergency in Aba and education sector, Ibe also congratulated his follow aspirants for their doggedness in showcasing their leadership qualities, promised to create jobs to timid youths in the state.
However, one of the gubernatorial aspirant, Ijioma Nwokoro Ijioma rejected the outcome of the governorship primaries, saying that the election was charactarised by irregularities, while barrister Etigwe Uwa congratulated Professor Ibe for emerging victorious.
