The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reiterated their commitment to deepen collaboration in the fight against illicit drug abuse and trafficking in Abia State.
This followed a courtesy visit by the newly posted NDLEA Commander in Abia State, Chigbu Odoemelam Chike, to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Akinsola Aderemi, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Umuahia.
According to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Abia State Command, ASC II Doreen Udugwu, the visit was aimed at familiarisation and strengthening the existing working relationship between the two security agencies in their collective effort to combat crime and criminality across the state.
The statement noted that discussions during the visit centered on enhancing mutual cooperation, with particular emphasis on developing effective strategies to curb the abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs in Abia State.
Both agencies reaffirmed their resolve to work closely together to ensure a safer and drug-free society for residents of the state.
