The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken delivery of three refurbished operational vehicles provided by the Abia State Government to strengthen the Corps’ operations across the state.
The vehicles were handed over to the State Commandant, Chukwuemeka Odimba, on Wednesday, August 12, at the state capital, Umuahia.
Receiving the keys to the vehicles, Odimba expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Chioma Otti for the support, describing the gesture as a major boost to the Command’s efforts to protect lives and critical national assets and infrastructure.
The Commandant noted that the state government had provided support to the Corps in various areas within the six months since he assumed office, saying the interventions had encouraged personnel to remain committed to their responsibilities.
He pledged that the Command would redouble its efforts to justify the confidence and support of the state government.
Odimba assured that the newly refurbished vehicles would be deployed effectively for operational duties, expressing optimism that improved performance could attract further support from the state government.
“We are optimistic that if we properly deploy these ones, His Excellency will consider us for more,” he said.
The arrival of the vehicles at the NSCDC Command headquarters sparked jubilation among personnel and other members of the Command.
The Commandant subsequently commissioned the vehicles for operational use and personally drove one of them amid cheers from the personnel.
The development is expected to significantly enhance the mobility, responsiveness and operational efficiency of the NSCDC in Abia State.
