The committee chairman of Abia State teachers recruitment exercise for primary and secondary education, Dr Uzoamaka Amah-Mbah has warned those whose plans are to extort applicants to be ready to face the full weight of the law.
Dr Uzoamaka who is also the board secretary Abia State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB, dropped the warning while Interacting with newsmen in Umuahia.
She affirmed that the Governor has lifted the ban on employment of primary and secondary education teachers, and emphasized that the governor is so interested in education which is one of the important sectors in Abia State.
The ASUBEB secretary said the recruitment committee was inaugurated on Friday 24th January, 2025 and held inaugural meeting on same Friday and Monday 27th January.
The recruitment committee chairman said the briefing was called to inform applicants not to give any kobo to any person, rather they should study hard for the recruitment process exam.
She disclosed that the link for the application of teachers recruitment would be released on Wednesday 29th January 2025.

While commending the Governor Alex Otti for his vision to employ more teachers, Dr Uzoamaka also appreciated the commissioner for basic and secondary education elder Goodluck Ubochi for the opportunity given to the seven man committee.
Dr Uzoamaka Amah-Mbah reiterated that it is no longer business as usual, warning that anyone caught extorting money would be punished severely because this is a new Abia and the governor has emphasized on that and mindful about the economic hardship in Nigeria and has made this recruitment exercise free of charge.
She maintained that the portal for application would run for two weeks, after which people would be informed on the next step to take.
Dr Uzoamaka promised that the committee would provide phone numbers for applicants in case of any clarification.
According to her, those who are qualified must have: NCE in education, B.ED education, BSC with PGD in education, age, not less than forty-five years.
She further encouraged traditional rulers to encourage their subjects to apply.
According to her, the portal would provide an opportunity for disabled people to apply.
Dr Uzoamaka said the Governor has approved the reward of teachers at the rural areas.
