Bella advices Media workers on ways to manage trauma

A medical expert, Dr Bella D has advised media practioners to adopt self care to manage their trauma.
Dr Bella gave the advice while speaking on the topic “destigmatizing trauma healing at ABR Media conference held in Abidjan on the theme”better together”.

She emphasized that self care helps both physical and spiritual healing, stressing that education is also important in recognizing trauma.
According to her, trauma is a mental health condition which takes time to heal.

She noted that trauma overwhelmes people with intense fear, helplessness among others, pointing out that not all emotional emotional pain result to trauma.

Dr Bella D therefore said one can recognise trauma by their behaviours which includes reliving the experince, avoiding reminders of the trauma and being always on alert.

While stating that churches can help people manage their trauma their counseling, Bella urged people including media practioners to stop discussing what caused the trauma over and over.

Contributing, the president of Vision Africa international, Bishop Sunday Onuoha noted that media workers are facing a lot of traumas while on duty and prayed for Gods grace to overcome such situations because while on air, they help their audience to manage their own trauma through various programs.
