The member representing the good people of Umuahia South State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Honourable Jerry Uzosike is calling on Federal and Abia State governments over the threats posed by erosion menace at Umunwanwa community.
Hon Uzosike on his Facebook post titled “SAVE OUR SOUL, A CRY FOR HELP, UMUNWANWA, MY COMMUNITY IS COMPLETELY TAKEN OVER BY EROSION.
WHO WILL SAVE US”, said “as a member of House of Assembly, he feels helpless and powerless”.
The state law maker stated that he had been beseeched by barrage of calls, SMS, videos of his community, asking where will their help come from and fell heart heartbroken.
According to him, Abia House of Assembly has resolved severally calling on Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP to help, the house of Assembly and further wrote to Ecological office to help, which they sent a letter to NDDC TO HELP, as well forwarded a letter to everyone who care to help.
He also posed this rhetorical question, “Where will our help come from? Lives lost”.
Hon Jerry Uzosike disclosed that the problem of the Umunwanwa started when NDDC tried to construction the road, destroyed the stability of the road which increased run off and abandoned it.
