Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilia Otti has promised that the present administration under Governor Alex Otti would continue to give priority to persons with disabilities.
Mrs Otti made the promise in Umuahia on Friday, while handing over food items to persons with disabilities as part of the actvities to mark 2024 world Food Day held at Ministry of agriculture, Umuahia.
She disclosed that the support is coming from the federal government, adding that she will also attend to other needs presented to her by the group.
The first lady of Abia State used the forum to charge other wealthy Abians to join the fight against poverty in the state, reminding that the united nations dedicated every October 16th as world Food Day to address the challenges facing food shortage in some part of the world.
According to her, the Governor has the interest of PWDs at heart, therefore, she promised them better days ahead.
In their contributions, commissioner for women affairs, Dr Mrs Maureen Aghoukwa and commissioner for poverty alleviatio and social protection, Mr Blessing Felix among others said the present government is running all inclusive government where no body is left out.
The chairman of Abia State disability commission, Mr David Anyaele who commended the governor’s wife for her benevolence, also said that the event was part or world Food Day and noted that before now, the disability communit would fight before they get what is due to them.
The special assistant to the Governor on intervention, Rev Father Christian Anokwuru commended the state Governor and his wife for taking the welfare of PWDs seriously and pledged that the state would receive more support from the federal government in addition to what the state Governor is doing.
